Water Mitigation and Restoration

We’ve seen it all. From the largest and most obvious sources of water damage like burst pipes and sump pump failures, to the tiniest, more insidious leaks like refrigerator water supply lines that sometimes go unnoticed until it’s too late. Sometimes the source is clean water, and other times the source is toxic. Whether the effected areas span throughout your home, or are limited to a smaller, isolated area - Mackey General Contractors can clean up the mess, take on the repairs and put you back together the right way.

In this photo a large Master Bath Vanity was removed in order to access the source of the water damage, which in this case was drain failure. At this point the area was properly sanitized and dried out using air movers and a commercial dehumidifier.

After the mitigation was completed, the necessary plumbing repairs were made, new insulation, drywall, custom cabinets, counter top and flooring were installed bringing the area back to pre-loss condition.

  • Appliance Leaks & Failure

  • Burst Pipes

  • Broken Water Supply Lines

Identifying the type of Water Damage

  • Category 1 Water Damage comes from clean, or sanitary water sources like water supply lines or even burst pipes. The Water is generally considered non toxic initially, however it is important to note that even water from sanitary sources can become toxic or unsafe depending on how long it sat and remained for, or the path that the water traveled during its course. This is where categories of water damage can begin to escalate… Most instances of water damage like this are covered by homeowners insurance.

  • Category 2 water damage has a more significant degree of contamination than Category 1. This can be from the water sitting stagnant and unnoticed for an extended period of time, sometimes as little as 48-72 hours, allowing bacteria and other biohazards to fester and grow. Another variable to consider is the path from which the water took, from the initial source through to where the water completed its course. It is along this path where the water can collect significant bacteria and other toxic hazards. Most instances of water damage like this are covered by homeowners insurance.

  • This is the highest and most concerning level of water damage. This category is for sources that are considered grossly unsanitary or toxic. This can be from sources like toilets, drain lines, dishwashers drain pumps etc. Sometimes even Category 1 & 2 Water Damage can escalate to Category 3 if left to sit and fester for too long… Most instances of water damage like this are covered by homeowners insurance.
